Lecher Antenna: A Short Explainer

In one sentence: It's a small, hand-held instrument with two wires and a sliding marker, descended from 19th-century physics lab equipment, that practitioners of geobiology and bioenergetics use as a dowsing tool.

The physical object

Picture a narrow frame holding two parallel wires side by side, joined at one end. A metal slider — the cursor — runs along a numbered scale between them. Moving the slider changes the setting, the same way turning a dial changes a station on an old radio.

The idea behind it

In the 1880s, physicist Ernst Lecher used exactly this wire-and-slider setup to measure how radio waves travel along conductors — useful, ordinary lab work at the time. Decades later, the same wire-and-slider principle was scaled down into something a person could hold and carry, and this smaller version is what's now called a Lecher antenna.

What people use it for today

Two main things: checking a home, garden or outdoor site for what practitioners call disruptive earth energy (geobiology), and reading or adjusting a person's own energy field (bioenergetics). Neither use is part of mainstream science — the instrument's origins are real physics; its use as a dowsing tool is a practitioner tradition, not something tested in controlled studies.

Is it safe / is it medicine?

No. It's not a diagnostic or medical device, and nothing here should replace seeing a doctor.

What about the Lecher antenna numbers?

NOne important note: not all Lecher antenna numbers/settings you'll find online actually work reliably. A setting is only worth using if it gives the same result every time, wherever and whenever you measure it. That's the only kind of number taught here.
Here's something most people don't expect and very useful: a Lecher antenna keeps sending out whatever it's set to, even when you've put it away in a drawer or a pouch — it doesn't just switch off. That's simply how a properly built Lecher antenna works.
